ARHT is the trust that runs the Westpac Rescue Helicopter service, which services the greater Auckland area including Rodney and the Coromandel.

We are your dedicated, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, air ambulance and rescue helicopter. 

How does your donation help us?

Last year the Westpac Rescue Helicopter carried out over 600 missions and all of these missions were made possible by businesses and members of the community who made donations to our service, because over 70 per cent of each rescue is funded through donations.

With our new membership scheme, for an annual donation of $55 plus a $5 administration fee you'll not only have the peace of mind of knowing that our rescue service is there for you 24/7 throughout the region, we'll also come and get you and/or your nominated family members if you find yourself hospitalised outside of the greater Auckland area. This way your recovery can be spent closer to friends and family.

For us, your annual donation represents one minute of rescue flight time. This is a lot when you consider that we can get to Piha in 13 minutes or the Coromandel in 20 - that one minute can be the difference between life and death for those who are waiting for us to arrive.


What are the benefits of becoming an ARHT member?

By becoming a member of the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust, you will be making a donation to help keep the Westpac Rescue Helicopter in operation, as well as being able to call upon our rescue helicopter if you are ever injured out of the Auckland region and want to be flown back to a hospital or care facility closer to your friends and family in the Auckland region.


Our close to home guarantee

If you are hospitalised whilst out of town (but within New Zealand) and getting you back to a care facility closer to home isn’t made available by your treatment providers or ACC, we will arrange free transportation from the hospital you are recovering in back to your New Zealand “home” hospital to allow you to continue your recovery near family and friends. The patient must be medically fit to make the journey, and cleared to do so by our Medical Director and other medical professionals involved in their care - please see our terms and conditions.

The service is available not only to you, but also to immediate family members residing with you at the same address.

Bringing your loved one back to Auckland using your membership

If a Rescue Rewards member has been hospitalised outside of the Auckland region, and you would like to bring them back to Auckland for recovery, then please contact:
